The urn that had been stolen from a Monument widower was returned to him on Friday after being missing for more than 2 months.
On January 10, the mahogany box containing the ashes of Bob Herrle's late wife Terry was stolen from his home along with many other items.
Some of the stolen items were discovered later that month in a bag dumped at the Trinity Church of the Nazarene in Colorado Springs. The urn was returned to that same church on Friday.
After so much time had past, Herrle said he began to think the urn may be returned.
"I really thought it was a lost cause really, but to have it show up two months and two days later is amazing," Herrle said. "I'm really kind of overwhelmed by the whole thing."
Herrle says Friday would have been Terry's birthday.
Three people have been charged in connection with the crime: Jeremy Farr, 23, Nicole Mobley, 24 and Sergio Rivera, 31 who was arrested last month in Barstow, California.
