Storm affects Pueblo too

Pueblo emergency workers are on stand by in case of problems on Fountain Creek as it runs through Pueblo.

The storm dropped more than three inches of rain on some parts of Colorado Springs and that water eventually makes its way into Fountain Creek.  The U.S. Geological Survey station in Fountain showed the water volume in Fountain Creek went from 70 cubic feet per second yesterday afternoon to 6,000 cfs by last night.  It has now dropped back to 150 cfs.  That raised the water depth briefly by more than five feet.

This morning the creek is 18 inches deeper than it was yesterday and the water volume has increased from 40 cfs to 1,000 cfs.

Pueblo Police Officers are patrolling homeless camps to make sure people stay safe.  The Pueblo Fire Department recommends people stay away from the river trail if it is under water or appears to have been undercut by rushing water.
