What floats your boat? And more important, what keeps it from sinking.

That was a huge question in the minds of 7th grade students from Galileo School of Math and Science at the Wasson High School swimming pool Friday morning. It was billed as the 1st Cardboard Boat Regatta. Students have been researching buoyancy, water displacement and marine transportation. They used this knowledge to build boats from cardboard, plastic sheeting and duct tape.

The goal was for each boat had to hold three students and traverse the length of the pool at Wasson High School.
