It's been a project years in the making, students in Canon City have turned an ugly wall into a work of art. Students are painting a mural on the walls of this ditch next to Centennial Park. In the past, the wall a magnet for graffiti. So in 2006, Madison Exploratory Elementary School decided to do something about it. Every year they paint a new scene on the wall.

This year's theme: rafters and kayakers on the Arkansas river. "First of all it helps to clean up our community and in the schools especially our school we're trying to teach kids to work together and together we make a difference," said Krystal Wyatt, a teacher at Madison Exploratory School.

The wall is about 10-feet tall and longer than anyone has ever measured. The other side is still blank, so future classes will be able to continue the tradition for years to come.
