Colorado Springs responded to a burglary in progress call this afternoon after a report that suspects had loaded a television into a car and drove away.

When officers found the car a few minutes later they stopped it near Pikes Peak and Academy. One man suddenly ran from the vehicle.

Officer Olav Chaney said the suspect jumped from a retaining wall about 20 feet tall. He was confronted by two soldiers and two truck drivers who had seen police chasing him.

The man was identified as Jody Kennedy, 42. He suffered only minor injuries. An investigation then revealed that the television was not stolen and there was no burglary. But officers found meth in the car and arrested Kennedy on drug charges.
