BOULDER, Colo. (AP) - Authorities say an 80-year-old man was killed and his 77-year-old female companion was seriously injured when the two were hit by a vehicle as they crossed a street in Broomfield.

The Daily Camera reports a Longmont woman driving an SUV struck the victims, both from Erie, at the intersection of Highway 7 and Mountain View Boulevard at about 4 p.m. Saturday. The injured woman was hospitalized with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say they do not believe the driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the crash.
