Target recalls trunks that reports say caused brain damage to toddler

Target is recalling about 350,000 trunks after an 18-month-old girl reportedly suffered brain damage from being pinned between the lid and the rim of a trunk.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission says the lids of these woven rattan, abaca or banana leaf trunks can drop very quickly when released.

The agency has received two reports of injuries when the lids on the recalled trunks closed on children. An 18-month-old girl reportedly suffered brain damage when the lid pinned her throat against the rim of the trunk.

The trunks were manufactured in China and the Philippines and sold at Target stores nationwide between February 2009 and April 2010 as well as on Target's website. They can be returned for a full refund or replacement product at any Target store.
