Police have arrested a teenager for a shooting over the weekend that killed one man in Colorado Springs at a late-night party.

Police responded to a fight Sunday morning around two. They found a man, later identified as 19-year-old Jack Smith of Colorado Springs, lying in the road on 25th Street, near Cimarron Street. An autopsy performed today confirmed he died of gunshot wound to the upper body.

He is the 24th homicide victim in the City of Colorado Springs this year.

Based on the investigation and at least 40 interviews, police have arrested a 16-year-old male. He faces charges of 1st Degree Murder and was placed in the Spring Creek Juvenile Detention Center. Police have not released the suspect's name because he is a juvenile.

Police have also arrested and charged Jack Smith's dad with criminal mischief, a misdemeanor, for property damage and threats made at Memorial Hospital where his son died.

Police say the investigation is not complete, but they do not anticipate any arrests.
