SAN DIEGO (AP) - Prosecutors have charged a 14-year-old San Diego boy with attempted murder for allegedly stabbing the 13-year-old mother of his child.
The girl was stabbed June 16 in the neck with a kitchen knife in the defendant's home. She was hospitalized and is expected to recover. No names are being released because of their ages. The couple's child is believed to be 18 months old. Deputy District Attorney Jorge Del Portillo says the boy, who may have attacked in a fit of jealousy, was also charged Monday with corporal injury, assault, assault with a deadly weapon and making criminal threats.
The prosecutor says the teenager, who remains in San Diego Juvenile Court until a June 30 hearing, could be in custody until age 25 if convicted.
