Teller County Sheriff's Office is investigating a suspicious death and a missing persons report in the county just outside of Woodland Park on Elk Lane. The Sheriff's Office has not released any official information and a statement from the Sheriff's Office is not expected before late this afternoon.
News First 5 has received calls from residents in the area concerned as Teller County Deputies are blocking off a large area in and around the scene.
The Colorado State Patrol has been facilitating communications between the multiple agencies investigating the scene and media and tells News First 5 that Teller County Sheriff's Deputies were responding to a call and while doing so discovered a corpse.
The discovery of the body was not in relation to the call deputies were responding to.
Teller County Sheriff's Office and the Colorado Bureau of Investigations is conducting an investigation into the identity of the body and have not released if the body was one of a male or female and if it is related or not to a missing persons investigation also being conducted by Teller County..
Trooper Heather Cobler from the Colorado State Patrol said a body was found at a home in a rural area of the county outside Woodland Park. We have learned that the area being investigated is near Elk Lane, Southwest of Woodland Park.
Trooper Cobler stated that very little information is available at this time as investigators work to determine the identity of the body that was found.
