Red Flag Warning in effect through 9 PM for SAN LUIS VALLEY...EL PASO...PUEBLO...HUERFANO AND LAS ANIMAS COUNTIES. Winds will stay breezy as the humidity falls below 10% thru this evening.
A Fire Weather Watch is in effect for just about everyone Saturday from noon till 8 PM, excluding the higher elevations. The winds will pick back up and the humidity will drop as low as 5-10%.
You have one more day to enjoy the nice, warm weather before the weather pattern changes. Saturday will be fairly mild again as highs stay in the 60s and 70s. However, we won't have quite the sunshine and the winds will return. Winds Saturday will be 20-30mph, with gusts 35+. Showers will move into the higher elevations by late afternoon, early evening. But the rest of us won't see this rain until overnight Saturday.
Saturday night and Sunday is when the big weather pattern shifts. The jet stream will move south of Colorado, bringing with it a storm that will impact much of the US through next week. This storm will get cut off from the normal flow of the atmosphere. And as it brings the wind and cool weather, this means we're stuck with both of these through at least Thursday of next week - maybe longer. Highs will stay in the 40s and 50s for most locations early next week, and with the wind around, it may feel even cooler.
So that's why I'm saying, if you want to get outside, try for Saturday afternoon. Next week doesn't look so hot - literally! - Meteorologist Valerie Abati
