A judge in Los Angeles continues a hearing today about the final days of Anna Nicole Smith. And according to an investigator, those days were marked by illness and confusion.
The testimony came at a preliminary hearing yesterday involving charges that Smith's former lawyer and boyfriend, Howard K. Stern, and two doctors conspired to illegally provide her with controlled substances.
The celebrity model died of a drug overdose in Florida in early 2007 at the age of 39.
The judge will decide if there's enough evidence to send the case to trial. He noted that the defendants aren't accused of killing Smith. And when the questioning turned to the cause of Smith's death, the judge said that's not an issue in this case.
Stern and the two doctors have pleaded not guilty.
