Third-graders at Manitou Springs Elementary School got a taste of space Thursday afternoon.
They just started their solar system unit and got a hands-on demonstration from the Challenger Learning Center complete with a space suit. They saw pictures of how astronauts eat and exercise in space.
Third grade teacher Rebecca Elms says math and science are subjects the school "really emphasizes."
It was all made possible through a grant from the American Institute of Astronautics and Aeronautics. Manitou Springs was one of three schools in the Colorado Springs Region to receive the grant.
