Three struck by lightning in Florida

NBC Miami reports two men were taken to the hospital and a third man was killed when lightning struck in Homestead, Florida, in the southwest of Miami Metro.

The three are said to have been washing a truck and took shelter beneath a tractor trailer when the lightning began. The tractor trailer was hit by lightning, and the electrical shock also hit the three men.

The National Weather Service in Miami had issued special weather advisories, indicating the increased risk of lightning from the thunderstorms.

The two survivors were listed in stable condition.

Florida is the only state in the nation that reports more lightning in a year than Colorado.
