PUEBLO, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Nov. 13, 2011) - CSU-Pueblo was rewarded for its 11-0 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference championship season Sunday with the announcement that the ThunderWolves will be the top seed in its region and get the opportunity to host as many as three home playoff games, the NCAA announced.
The ThunderWolves, as the top seed in Super Region 3, one of four "super regions" in the NCAA Division II Playoffs, will get a first-round bye in the playoffs, playing the winner of the first-round game between four-seed and defending national champion, Minnesota-Duluth (9-2) and Saginaw Valley (Mich.) (7-3). CSU-Pueblo's opening playoff game will take place Saturday, Nov. 26 at noon at the Neta & Eddie DeRose ThunderBowl.
CSU-Pueblo can host as many as three home playoff games (including the National Quarterfinals on Dec. 3 and National Semifinals on Dec. 10). The NCAA Division II National Championship will take place on Dec. 17 at 9 a.m. MST at Braly Municipal Stadium in Florence, Ala. The National Semifinals as well as the National Championship will be broadcast live on national television.
Tickets for the ThunderWolves' Nov. 26 game will go on sale Monday at 8 a.m. at the CSU-Pueblo Ticket Office, located at Massari Arena on the CSU-Pueblo campus. Tickets can also be ordered by calling the Ticket Office at (719) 549-2050 or by purchasing tickets online at www.CSUPuebloBookstore.com. Tickets cost $10 for a reserved seat, or $5 for "ThunderHill"/standing room only seating. Student ticket prices will be released at a later date.
