hildren nine years old and younger that received a first dose of H1N1 flu vaccine and need their second dose are encouraged to call the Health Department to schedule an appointment in the clinic for Tuesday, December 29 or Wednesday December 30 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Health Department officials recommend 28 days between doses, though 21 days since the first dose is also acceptable.
Dr. Christine Nevin-Woods, Executive Director of the Pueblo City-County Health Department stated that "Children are not fully protected until they get their second dose. This is why it is so important for parents to get their kids in for their second dose."
Children 6 months to 4 years old that are unable to get H1N1 flu vaccine at a pharmacy or their health care provider are also able to get their vaccine at the Health Department by scheduling an appointment.
Vaccine is available at no cost. Appointments can be made by calling 583-4440. Leave a message and a nurse will call you back to schedule an appointment.
