Take a close look at the price tag during your next trip to the grocery store and you may notice another number. It's a nutrition tag called NuVal and, for now, you'll only find them at King Soopers.

The system uses the information provided on the package's Nutrition Facts panel to come up with a single number between 1 and 100. The higher the number, the more nutritious the food.
Kings Soopers spokesperson Kelli McGannon says the chain opted to use the system to make nutrition choices easier for their customers.

"Not to sound cliche, but we're not here to be the food police," McGannon said. "We're here for people to make better decisions if they choose to use the score."

Tonight on News 5 at 6:00 we'll hear what a local dietician thinks of the system in our special report The NuVal Numbers.
