Tow operator killed, Trooper hurt in Weld Co. crash

A tow truck operator was killed and a Colorado State Patrol Trooper was injured when they were hit by a pickup truck Saturday in Weld County.  State Patrol says the Trooper and tow truck were on-scene of a prior accident at U.S. Highway 85 and Weld County Road 6, about halfway between Brighton and Fort Lupton, when a Ford F-250 pickup hit the Trooper's cruiser off the right side of the road.  The Trooper was injured in the crash and taken to a Denver hospital.  The tow operator was sweeping up debris from the prior crash and was hit and killed on-scene.  The driver of the tow truck was also injured and taken to a Denver hospital.  State Patrol reminds all drivers to slow down and move over when approaching accident scenes, vehicles being towed, or vehicles pulled over by law enforcement.
