Trash collection events in Pueblo

As you're doing some spring cleaning, health educators hope you'll do your part to protect the environment. Today the Pueblo City-County Health Department held its annual clean-up in the Bessemer neighborhood. Residents who purchased tickets, were allowed to get rid of old furniture, tires and yard waste.

Health experts say these events have a big impact on the community. "It helps us to keep our yards and neighborhoods and our open space looking nice and protecting the land, water and air quality," said Susan Finzel-Aldred, with the Pueblo City-County Health Department.

About a hundred households signed up for this event. In case you missed it, there's a similar one next month. The health department is holding a hazardous waste collection day at the Colorado State Fair in Pueblo on May 11, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Residents can drop off old paints, old electronics and tires. Some fees may apply.
