A semi-trailer truck is the probably origin of two fires that started along the east side of Interstate 25 between Pueblo and Colorado Springs.

The fires were spread over a two mile stretch of I-25 around Mile Marker 112. With high fire danger and a stiff breeze the fires quickly spread through dry prairie grass to the east. Both fires burned along the edge of the road for about a quarter of a mile. At one point there was enough smoke to force the closure of the right northbound lane of the Interstate.

The truck was carrying trash and apparently something in the load was smoldering as it moved down the road.
