Treatment helps asthma patients breathe easier

Asthma affects millions all over the world, but a new development may give them a chance to breathe easier.

Nora Gordils battled severe asthma for decades until her doctor suggested a new treatment.

"I feel much better, I really feel much better. I can do more activities, I can breath easier."

The treatment is called Bronchal Thermoplasty. It's a revolutionary procedure that's being performed by Doctor Alaa El-Gendy, a Pulmonologist.

"I feel the satisfaction I've finally been able to bring the joy to a patient who's joyful but has not been able to do a lot with her life."

Bronchial Thermoplasty works by delivering heat into sections of the lungs though a special catheter. The heat stops the airways from tightening up during asthma attacks. The end result is more than air entering the lungs, which means fewer and less severe asthma attacks.

After 25 years of suffering, Gordils says it was worth the wait.

"I really can't wait, and he knows I can't wait, I want him to do both at the same time, but he can't ..."
