Two people were displaced after a fire caused extensive damage to their home on the 900-block of 25th Street in Colorado Springs on Saturday.
A neighbor called firefighters to the scene just before 7 p.m. and crews arrived to find smoke billowing out of the home. Thankfully the two people living there weren't home at the time.
Fire fighters believe the fire may have started in the basement and spread to the attic, but haven't been able to confirm the origin or cause of the fire. The fact that nobody was home at the time had fire fighters calling the fire "suspicious" Saturday evening.
"The fire is a little suspicious so we do have investigators coming, right now we don't where the origin is and we are fighting fire both in the basement and in the attic," described Lt. Stacy Billapando of the Colorado Springs Fire Department. "With the age of the building most likely the fire has moved throughout the structure."
Investigators were expected to work throughout Saturday night to determine the cause of the fire.
