Two killed in crash south of Trinidad

Two people are dead after a crash this morning south of Trinidad.

The crash happened at 6:35 a.m. along southbound I-25 eight miles south of Trinidad.

According to the Colorado State Patrol, a Freightliner pulling two trailers lost control, rolled on its side and hit a guard rail. No other vehicles were involved.

The driver of the Freightliner, 58 year-old Roberto Anaya of Ontario California was not wearing his safety belt at the time of the crash. He was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead. The passenger, 57 year-old Roberto Villarreal of Duarte, California was not wearing a safety belt at the time of the crash. He was also pronounced dead at the hospital.

Alcohol, drugs and speed are not considered a contributing factor in the crash. However, the crash does remain under investigation at this time.
