Two suspects in gas station burglary arrested

Colorado Springs, CO - A Colorado Springs police officer was driving on E. Platte Avenue near N. Murray Boulevard on Thursday morning around 1:30a.m., when he observed two men running southbound across Platte Avenue. Approximately one minute after the officer observed the men running, the CSPD Communication Center received a call indicating that the burglar alarm from the Shell Gas Station in the 4200 block of E. Platte Avenue was sounding. Officers responded the Shell station and observed that the front glass door had been broken and the business had been burglarized.
Officers located two large bags that the suspects had been carrying and inside the bags found numerous packages of cigarettes and other tobacco items. These items were found to have been stolen from the Shell station and were returned to the store.
The two suspects, Charles Ney, 34, and Anthony Ney, 33, were arrested and taken to CJC on the charges of Second Degree Burglary, Felony Criminal Mischief, and Felony Theft.
