The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs is taking big steps in getting students ready to work in a global market place. The school was recently awarded the At Home in the World Initiative from American Council on Education.
The program was created to promote diversity in education and collaboration between colleges and universities around the globe.
UCCS Provost Peg Bacon says the university is encouraging more students to study abroad as well as incorporating the use of the internet and video concerning technology in classes across all departments. Relationships have already been formed with universities in India and the colleges of business and engineering.
Bacon says it's important that as the university grows, that their students be better prepared to work and communicate in a global marketplace.
"I think it's absolutely critical," Bacon said. "It really is not just a global economy, but a global world."
UCCS is the only college in the state to be awarded with the program and one of only 8 in the country.
