UPDATE: Air Force crews, planes from Colo. will aid Israel

PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. (AP) - Two U.S. Air Force cargo planes equipped for firefighting are headed to Israel to help fight a devastating wildfire that has killed 41.

The C-130s and about 50 Air Force reservist were dispatched from Peterson Air Force Base. The first of the group left Saturday. The planes and crew are part of the Air Force Reserve's 302nd Airlift Wing. It wasn't clear when they would arrive or how long they would stay.

The fire broke out Thursday in northern Israel near Haifa, Israel's third-largest city. Officials said Saturday the fire had subsided but wasn't under control.
