UPDATE: Arizona shooting suspect identified and arrested

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - A federal judge and a 9-year old girl are among five dead after an assailant opened fire at a constituent meeting of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords. The Arizona Democrat was shot in the head. She's one of 10 people wounded in the attack outside a Tucson, Ariz., grocery store. Hospital officials say her outlook for recovery is "optimistic."

Police have the alleged shooter in custody. Sources familiar with investigation say the suspect claims he acted alone. His motive remains unknown. People familiar with the investigation identify him as 22-year-old Jared Loughner. Pima County Sheriff's officials say he used a pistol in the attack.
