UPDATE: Body found in Fountain identified, name not released

An officer from the Fountain Police Department says they have identified the body found in Fountain Creek on Friday.

Police have yet to release the name of the deceased until the next of kin is notified and will hold a press conference on Monday to elaborate on the details.

Agents from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation came from Denver to help process the scene.

The body, found by a man looking for his dog, was face down in two to three feet of water and was badly decomposed. Police estimated it had been there for several weeks.
