UPDATE: The Fremont County Sheriff's Office has decided not to follow after a driver who led deputies in El Paso County on a high speed chase. The suspect was driving at speeds of over 100 miles per hour in a cream colored 2003 Mitsubishi sedan that was reported stolen.
Deputies first attempted to pull over the driver at around 3:47 a.m. along South Academy Boulevard near I-25 when the driver sped away. Deputies pursued the vehicle west on Academy into the Broadmoor Bluffs area, before the suspect turned south onto Colorado Highway 115.
The chase was called off near the El Paso/Fremont County Line. Dispatchers with the Colorado State Patrol tell News First 5 that a trooper was not available to assist in the pursuit.
UPDATE: Deputies with the El Paso County Sheriff's office have stopped pursing a man who led them on a high speed chase that reached speeds of over 100 miles per hour.
The driver of a cream colored Mitsubishi fled south on Colorado Highway 115 into Fremont County just after 4:00 a.m. Deputies notified the Fremont County Sheriff's office and stopped their chase at the county line.
El Paso County Sheriff's Deputies are pursuing a suspect who is leading them on a high speed chase.
Dispatchers tell News First 5 that the chase started as a traffic stop, but that the driver of the cream colored Mitsubishi refused to pull over and sped away.
At times, the pursuit has reached speeds over 100 miles per hour. The car is currently headed southbound on Colorado Highway 115 towards Fremont County.
The chase temporarily lead officers through the Broadmoor Bluffs neighborhood, before the suspect turned on to Hwy 115.
