Update: Duckett Fire

As the Duckett Fire rages on crews are beginning to get a hold on it. As it stands now the fire is about 30% contained. That's a big improvement over Saturday. "Yesterday was 15% so there's been quite a bit of progress." explains Tracy Dierking, a Public Information Officer working on the Duckett Fire. The fire, a week in the making, has already burned over 4300 acres of land and cost over $4,000,000 to fight.

The biggest help has been Mother Nature herself. Higher humidity and cooler temps have given fire crews and edge. "We've been really fortunate." says Dierking, "We had a break in the weather with a little bit cooler temperatures and some cloud cover. That really enabled crews to make some great progress."

But a Red Flag Warning on Sunday and the promise of dry, warm weather the rest of the week make this weekend's progress very crucial to getting the fire under control. "Current forecasts also show that we're in for several days of a warming and drying trend." says Dierking "Today will be a really important to see what kind of behavior we get on the fire."
