UPDATE: Fire crews gaining ground on grass fire near Falcon

Crews from all over El Paso County have been pouring in as part of a mutual aide call to fight a rapidly growing grass fire that was sparked by a lawn mower north of Falcon. Officials from the Falcon Fire Department say that the fire grew from 1/2 acre to more than 3 acres in just minutes. It was growing westward, but shifting winds are making the growth tracking difficult. On their last report, the fire was 50 to 60% contained, with more wild-land crews arriving.

Residents are advised to stay clear of roads near fire scene so fire fighting crews can move freely and safely.
