We've learned detectives from the Greenville Police Major Crimes Unit were called out assist CSPD on Sunday in Greenville, NC.
24-year-old Montrell Mayo surrendered to police at the Pitt County Magistrates office on Sunday in connection with the death of a woman found in a room at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.
The victim was found in her hotel room around 6:40am Sunday.
Police served Mayo with an arrest warrant from Colorado Springs for first degree murder.
Greenville police say Mayo is a soldier in the U.S. Army, serving at Ft. Carson, and he was reported to be from Greenville and have family there.
He is being held without bond pending further investigation and extradition to Colorado.
According to Greenville police, detectives from Colorado Springs PD will arrive in Greenville in the next few days to continue their investigation.
