TRIPOLI, Libya (AP) - The Libyan government is calling it a "deliberate attack on a civilian neighborhood."
Libya's foreign minister is accusing NATO of killing nine civilians in an airstrike on the capital, Tripoli, today. He says the incident should serve as "a direct call for all free peoples of the world and for all Muslims to initiate a global jihad" against what he describes as "the oppressive, criminal West."
Shortly after the pre-dawn strike, government officials rushed journalists to the destroyed building, which appeared to be partially under construction.
NATO has acknowledged its planes hit targets in Tripoli and says it's investigating whether it was responsible for the alleged strike on the house. An alliance spokesman says "NATO deeply regrets any civilian loss of life" and "would be very sorry" if the investigation shows NATO weapons were responsible.
