Pueblo police say a 27 year-old has died after an officer-involved shooting.
Police were called out after 11 p.m. Thursday on reports of a loud disturbance at 2309 Longhorn Drive. That is near Widner Drive and Meadowlark Lane in Northridge.
Police say when an officer knocked on the door of the home, the 27 year-old answered holding a gun. The officer fired two shots at that person. The 27 year-old was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died.
"If there's an imminent threat, the officer is allowed to use equal or greater force to defend himself and the people around him. An officer does not know the intent of someone who comes to the door with a gun in their hand," said Capt. Dayton Robinson, with the Pueblo Police Department.
The officer was not hurt. No names are being released at this time. The shooting is under investigation by the Critical Incident Team, which is made up of investigators from Pueblo Police, the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office and the Pueblo District Attorney's Office.
