Postal workers and supporters are rallying to "Save America's Postal Service" in light of massive budget problems. It's happening right now all across the country including Colorado Springs at City Hall.
With hundreds of post offices considered for closure, along with the springs processing facility, these people are rallying in support of postal workers.
Critics say the Postal Service is bloated and needs to be streamlined as it drowns in red ink. Last year alone, it reported an $8.5 billion dollar loss.
Right now the Postal Service is in danger of defaulting on $5.5 billion dollar payment into the future retiree health benefits fund. Currently there's a surplus in that account. These workers want that surplus to be transferred to get the Postal Service back in the black. House Bill 1351 would do that.
