A 12-year-old boy will be spared the agony of rabies shots, after a Colorado Springs man stepped forward and said his dog may have been the one to bite the child.

The boy was bitten Saturday at a car show in Green Mountain Falls. The large dog bit the boy on the thigh.

The El Paso County Sheriff's Office tried to find the dog and its owner at the show, then turned to the media for help.

The dog owner has provided proof of rabies vaccination, so there is not rabies danger for the child. It's unknown if the owner will face charges.
