AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - It's being called the "people's filibuster" at the Texas State Capitol. Demonstrators against tough restrictions on abortions in the state shouted at deafening levels in the Senate chamber late last night, preventing lawmakers from voting on those restrictions before the midnight deadline.
They created a ruckus after a Democratic lawmaker had to end her nearly 11-hour filibuster to stop the vote. Republicans did vote to pass the bill, but they didn't quite make the end-of-session cut-off.
