Colorado Springs Police say they're now considering the death of a 27 year-old man, who was hit in the head with a rock during a fight Saturday morning outside of a bar on Centennial Blvd., a homicide. They were waiting for the official determination from the El Paso County Coroner, which came in Monday.
27-year-old William "Josh" Landrum was found unconscious in the parking lot of Hondo's Sports Bar just after 2 a.m. Police spokesperson Barbara Miller says officers were breaking up a few different conflicts at the time.
Landrum was taken to a local hospital, but later died.
Police say suspects were seen leaving the area on foot; heading west from the bar. Since the weekend police have been asking anyone who was there to contact them. Miller says they've gotten several calls since putting out that message, and investigators have had a chance to speak with several people who were there.
This is the 27th homicide in Colorado Springs in 2011; last year the total was 24. The city's highest amount ever for a single year is 28.
