COLORADO SPRINGS - Neighbors who live near the Broadmoor Valley Park are upset after someone damaged the public soccer fields there. It happened overnight Thursday. Judging by the tire tracks in the field, drove through the grass tearing up the turf.
Marissa Morlock lives nearby and comes to the park everyday. She called the police this morning after seeing the damage.
"This is a soccer field for children, you know, it's not a playground for someone to be malicious," Morlock said. "I'm really angry."
Kurt Schroeder of the parks department tells News 5 his crews will need to either reseed the area or put down new sod. The driver missed all of the sprinkler heads and utility boxes.
Schroeder plans to hold youth sports activities scheduled for the park this spring in areas that were not damaged in order to give the turf time to repair itself.
