Verdict in child beating case

The two-week trial of Jeremiah Lovato came to a close this morning. He was accused of severely beating his adopted son.
The Jury found Lovato guilty on several counts of child abuse, 1st, 2nd and 3rd degree assault charges and on the count of the sexual assault of a child. There were 18 counts in all.
Lovato faces 50-years to life in prison on those charges.
His sentencing date is set for May 2, 2011, pending a psychological evaluation.
