Veteran Springs officer jailed for DUI, evidence tampering

COLORADO SPRINGS - A 24 year veteran of the Colorado Springs Police Department was jailed Monday on charges of Driving Under the Influence and Tampering with Evidence. Officer David Rosenoff was off-duty when he crashed his personal vehicle at around 1:00 a.m. Sunday on Interstate 25 at the Woodmen Road exit.

According to a CSPD news release, Officer Rosenoff was taken to the hospital for where his blood was drawn for evidence as part of routine DUI investigation. While there he was served and released for Careless Driving, DUI and DUI per se.

After Rosenoff was released, the arresting officer discovered that the blood sample was missing from his patrol car.

Rosenoff was subsequently booked to the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center Monday following a joint investigation by detectives with the CSPD Major Crimes Unit and the 4th Judicial District Attorney's Office.

"We have placed Officer Rosenoff on Administrative Leave. Because this is an active investigation, no further information will be released at this time," Police Chief Pete Carey said in the news release.
