Victim of home invasion fought back

A Pueblo man said he fought back when someone broke through his front door early Thursday morning.

It happened around 1:30 Thursday morning in the 2800 block of Aster on Pueblo's south side.  James Otero, 28, said he fought with three armed men.  During the scuffle, his two pit bulls attacked.  Though he suffered a broken nose, a broken bone in his face and broken ribs, but was able to take away one of the guns.

He then starting firing the gun as the assailants ran.  He followed them down the street, firing numerous shots.  He didn't hit anything except a neighbor's car.

Police say he is in the process of getting a medical marijuana growing permit.  Marijuana plants were found in the house.

This incident happened only a block and a half from where a man shot and killed a suspected home invader just a couple of weeks ago.
