Voluntary evacuations near Teller County wildfire

CRIPPLE CREEK, Colo. (AP) - Fire crews are battling at least five wildfires in southern Colorado, including one in Teller County that's prompted the residents of 104 homes to evacuate.

The sheriff's office said Thursday that 105 homes in a subdivision near Cripple Creek were urged to evacuate the day before and the residents of all but one have done so.

The fire is burning on 50 acres and no homes have been lost.

Four other large wildfires are burning in the more sparsely populated southeastern corner of the state. Two are burning on Fort Carson's Pinon Canyon Maneuver Site, about 180 miles southeast of Denver. The largest there is about 40 square miles.

No updates are available on the other two other wildfires. On Wednesday, one was burning on 9,000 acres and another had spread to
2,500 acres.
