Walsenburg hospitals prepared to evacuate if needed

Spanish Peaks Regional Health Center (SPRHC) and the Colorado State Veterans Nursing Home (CSVNH) are currently operating as usual but with the East Peak Fire in the area, preparations have been made for possible evacuation of patients and residents in the event the situation changes. Lodging and transportation have been arranged to transfer the majority of the residents to the Pueblo State Hospital and the Pueblo Regional Center. Hospital patients will be transferred either to St. Mary-Corwin Medical Center or Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo if needed.

SPRHC and CSVNH are not currently located in an evacuation or pre-evacuation zone, but are taking these precautions in the event the situation changes.
