RED FLAG WARNING for much of the area Wednesday from noon through 8 PM.
Today is going to be the warmest day of the week! Highs will be well into the 70s and 80s with lots of sunshine. There will be a few spotty showers today, but like yesterday, most of us stay dry.
The winds will pick up later today, with windy and gusty conditions for Wednesday. The winds will also bring in some slightly cooler temperatures to Colorado, as well as some more cloud cover. Winds will be steady 20-30mph, with gusts over 40mph. And because of the dry air that will be in place, the fire danger will be high.
Besides the wind on Wednesday, the weather for the rest of the week will be fairly quiet. Temperatures will stay steady with winds lighter each day and partly sunny skies.
The weekend will be similar to the past couple, where the first half is fairly decent, then showers and cooler air arrive for the second half. Right now, the timing isn't fine tuned, but we are looking at a few showers on Sunday, with temperatures dropping off again. The big thing that sticks out to me today with the latest computer models is the weekend wind. Models want to increase the wind to 30-35mph, with gusts 50+. We'll be watching that as we get closer.
I hope you're getting to enjoy today's warmth... Meteorologist Valerie Abati
