Water is back on but Manitou residents are told to boil water before drinking it

Update on the watermain break in Manitou Springs. The water is back on as of 5 p.m. Manitou Springs officials are still asking resident to boil their water for 3 minutes till noon Friday before consumption.

The City of Manitou Springs has been issued a boil water advisory due to the watermain break this morning. The city says this is precautionary and at this point, no contamination has been detected.

Before using any water for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and preparing food, you should bring all water to a boil, let it boil for three (3) minutes.

The watermain failed early Thursday morning leaving much of downtown Manitou without water. Crews are still working to get the main fixed and water service restored.

The break was caused by the recent flooding.
