The water is now safe to drink in Cripple Creek Mountain Estates. After cleaning and testing, the boil order for customers of the Mountain Mutual Water Company in Teller County has been lifted.
E-coli is found in animal feces and can cause illness in humans. Somehow the bacteria found its way into a cistern used in the water system, which serves about 300 homes in Teller County.
The water comes from wells located at Gillette Flats in Teller County.
