Weather gives southern California firefighters a break

The humidity is up and temperatures are cooler this morning and that's good news for crews fighting a Southern California wildfire.
The 7,500-acre blaze has burned to the edges of the popular resort town of Wrightwood in the San Gabriel Mountains. Fire crews spent yesterday cutting fire lines while battling erratic winds.
The so-called Sheep fire is 20 percent contained. The fire destroyed three homes but firefighters kept it from encroaching into Wrightwood. As many as 6,000 residents were ordered to evacuate. Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger declared a state of emergency, freeing up state resources to battle the fire.
In Arizona, strong winds kept some residents of the scenic northern Arizona city of Williams from returning to their homes yesterday as crews battled a prescribed burn that grew out of control.
