A new survey from the National Motorists Association lists Colorado Springs as the 4th worst city in the nation when it comes to speed traps. Colorado Springs Police don't quite agree. "I was surprised to hear that we were listed as #4 when it comes to speed traps." says Lt. Brian Ritz with the Stetson Hills Division.
It's important to understand that this isn't an exact science. The N.M.A. ranked the cities based on driver reports to their website. We asked you on Facebook what you thought of the ranking.and reaction was split. Some wrote simply not to speed and you won't have any problems. But others say it is a problem because they think police only do it for revenue purposes. Lt. Ritz says that couldn't be further from the truth. "It appears that the perception would be that we are there for the purpose of generating revenue as opposed to enforcing or enhancing traffic safety." he explains, "That's contrary to what our goals and objectives are."
