Westminster police interview mother of slain baby

WESTMINSTER, Colo. (AP) - Police in Colorado are interviewing the mother of a 19-month-old girl who was fatally shot.

The girl was identified as 19-month-old Mia McKoy-Phanthavongsa. The mother, Kim Phanthavongsa, told police after the shooting that there was an altercation and she called police, saying her ex-boyfriend, Merrick McKoy, had a gun and he was inside her apartment with their child. McCoy was hospitalized with a gunshot wound, and his condition was not available on Wednesday.

Westminster police spokeswoman Cheri Spottke said Wednesday no arrests have been made in the case.

Police say when they arrived, they heard shots and found the child and the man with gunshot wounds.
